At the heart of everything EJG Films does is a simple belief: that great video starts with a great story. Not a great camera, not a complex edit. A story. One that's authentic, that means something, and that's worth telling well.
Every project we take on starts in the same place — with a feeling. The atmosphere of a festival, the pride of a school, the character of a business. We start there, and we build everything around it.
From that feeling, we capture. Not just what something looks like, but what it feels like to be there. Authentically and beautifully, in a way that does justice to the moment.
And then we make it memorable. Whether it's helping attendees hold onto the memory of a night, or helping a business or school make a lasting impression on the people who matter most to them, we want everything we make to stay with people long after they've watched it.
Hi, I'm Eli Gearing, the person behind EJG Films.
I'm 19 years old, based in Brisbane, and filmmaking has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always behind a camera of some kind, and my dad would consistently suggest I brand my videos under the name EJG Films. It wasn't something I adopted at the time, but the name stuck, and when I eventually needed one for a real business, it was already there waiting.
At the heart of my love for film is a love for storytelling. Throughout high school I was a competitive public speaker, and the thread running through both is the same: I'm drawn to story. To the moment that makes something click for an audience. To finding the authentic truth in a subject and presenting it in its best light. That instinct was shaped in no small part by my late grandfather, Ridley Williams, or as he was known to me, Grandpa. Grandpa spent decades teaching film at QUT and Bond University and dedicated much of his career to mentoring the next generation of filmmakers. His passion for the craft and his love for the medium are things I carry with me today.
Throughout high school I threw myself into developing my skills, getting my hands on as much equipment as I could and constantly pushing myself to produce better work. In my senior year that commitment reached a new level when I took on creating a full promotional video for my own school. It was a major undertaking handled in partnership with the school's Marketing Coordinator, from scripting and audio recording through to filming and editing, I was involved at every stage and it produced the first piece of work I felt was truly professional. It remains the main example on our schools page today.
After finishing high school, EJG Films wasn't born straight away, and it certainly wasn't created from a plan. It started with people who had seen my work and wanted me to work on their projects — clients before there was even a business to speak of. Referrals have carried much of the work since, and the clients who trust me with their story tend to keep coming back. A perfect five star rating on Google reflects what I already know: that when people trust me with their story, I take that seriously.
When you work with EJG Films, you know exactly who you're getting. Someone who cares, who wants to tell your story well, and who will always start from an authentic truth and work to capture it in its best light.
Same Filmmaker, Separate Brand
Wedding videography was originally part of what EJG Films offered, but over time it became clear that it deserved its own dedicated space. Mini Cine Stories was born from that decision: a separate brand built specifically around weddings, with the same approach, the same care, and the same person behind the camera.
